"I always liked stories where the Hero has no idea that they're destined for greatness. The sort of Heroes who are living their lives and assume that nothing exciting will ever happen to them. Those are the kind of Heroes in this story. They started as just a bunch of friends in a treehouse, Looking up to their idols who had came before them... But when disaster struck, and an evil monstrosity threatened to destroy the world, those friends discovered that Heroes can come from the most humble of beginnings. They traveled the world to battle that monster, facing obstacles and sacrifices every step of the way. It wasn't easy, but they had each other. And working together, they struck it down and saved everyone. Soon they were the most famous people in the whole world, And their legend, their fame, just continued to grow as they explored more worlds, venturing into the great unknown. and that's how these five friends, plus the bravest pig in the world, took their place in history as some of the greatest heroes who ever lived."
—Lukas' book. src

Lukas is the tritagonist of Minecraft: Story Mode developed by Telltale Games He makes his first appearance In "The Order of the Stone." As the leader of The Ocelots, a team of builders that served as the rivals to Jesse's Gang. Eventually, he gets involved with the group after he was asked to do a certain favor, giving a slime ball to Jesse so they would be able to infiltrate the EnderCon convention in order to stop Ivor, creator of the Wither Storm. And adventure alongside the group, helping them stop various threats including his former team.

As stated in "Order Up!", Lukas was unfortunately kicked out of his circle once Aiden formed the Blaze Rods with The second season confirming that Lukas had joined the New Order of the Stone, as he wrote about their adventures together, a newfound hobby he began exploring within "Access Denied". He is voiced by Scott Porter.

Overview[]

Appearance[]

Lukas is a young gentleman. He was light, warm toned skin. He wears a striped t-shirt consisting of white and purple topped with a leather jacket that is designed with an ocelot face on his back. a brown belt encircling his waist laying over his denim pants along with some brown pair of shoes. He has dark blue eyes and golden blond hair.

In season two, his leather jacket is designed with gray colored lines over his sleeves and gray colored details, instead of the usual ocelot face on the back.

Armor[]

Eventually, He obtains new armor in Episode 4, which he wears throughout the remnant of the series. consisting of a orange t-shirt being topped with a leather jacket, armored shoulder pads and gauntlets. A pocket belt encircling his waist laying over purple colored pants. He wears goggles which, as mentioned by Stirpe, Lukas believes wearing this specific eyewear makes his appearance cool.[1]

In Season Two, Lukas is often seen without his gauntlets.

In Above and Beyond, when reforming the The Ocelots and being met with Jesse, He is seen wearing a leather jacket designed with gray details over a striped t-shirt.

Early Design[]

Lukas' hair was noticeably longer and his eyebrows were larger. He is accessorized with a cowboy hat, His striped t-shirt being topped with a sleeveless jacket along with denim shorts, fingerless gloves along with some brown pair of shoes.

Personality[]

"I'm resourceful, you know? People always say that. And I am a good friend. Most of the time, I'm a good friend. Now yesterday I wasn't at my best for one second and it's like... none of that matters. Except for one thing... Petra still needs us. I let her down once. It won't happen again. We're in this together now. I'm with you guys. To the end. I'm not really used to having to invite myself along. I hope we're cool, but if we're not, that's fine too."
—Lukas to Jesse's Gang if he left the shelter at night.
"I get to wear this jacket because I know how to build but that doesn't mean I don't know how to break things."
—Lukas defending himself against Axel

Lukas seems to be a kind and an intelligent understanding person, who is often concerned for the safety of others rather than his own. (such as caring for Petra/Gabriel's wither sickness and encouraging Jesse to not over-work themselves.) He often tries to solve arguments with diplomacy and maintain peace in whichever situation he is in.

He was the only member of The Ocelots who never bullied or mistreated Jesse and their friends, not laughing like the other members if Jesse chooses a ridiculous team name for the building competition. In fact, he constantly tried to deescalate tensions by telling the Ocelots to walk away and focus on their work instead of taunting and bullying Jesse and their friends. After Lukas discovers that Jesse knows Petra, he tells them that anyone who is cool with Petra, is cool with them. He offered to put aside past differences and just have fun together in the competition. Even if Jesse chooses to reject this and rebukes Lukas, Lukas still treats them cordially and wishes them good luck in the competition.

Lukas isn't a complete pushover, as he won't tolerate other's discourtesy towards him and is willing to give them the same attitude. However, He can be very arrogant at times. (such as not stopping Aiden from bullying Jesse and their group, bragging about The Ocelots' builds instead.)

If the player chooses mean options against him, he can be very apprehensive and sardonic, albeit his attitude is reasonable.

He is willing to assist them in anything they need help with, such as being the reason for Jesse to craft a Slime Block in order to infiltrate the EnderCon convention, or, informing them about the recipe and Ivor's plan on making a wither, alerting the group once Ivor returned back. Lukas was the only member of the group that didn't have any interest in stealing Ivor's stuff when they infiltrated his hideout.

when Ivor had built the Iron Golem, the group manages to escape but unknowingly leave Lukas behind. If The player chooses to rescue him themselves, Lukas will distract the Iron Golem to save Jesse, leads Jesse out of Ivor's hideout, and thank them for coming back to rescue him. If Jesse chooses to warn Gabriel about Ivor first and forget or abandon Lukas instead, He will escape himself from Ivor's golem and while he will initially be a little upset that Jesse chose to abandon him, he instantly forgives him and holds no grudges.

Though, portrayed to be bit cowardly at times. such as he got scared and froze up in the temple once the Wither Storm was attacked which indirectly leads to Petra and Gabriel getting captured, it was pretty understandable considering he had no weapons to stop it and the Wither Storm was a gigantic monster that couldn’t be stopped by ordinary means. Regardless, Lukas is consumed with remorse and vows to continue helping the team to get back Petra and Gabriel.

Although Axel constantly acts like a jerk to him, Lukas remains pretty polite with him and when Axel apologizes to Lukas insincerely for not having enough cookies for him, even though he gave a cookie to Reuben. Lukas says it is fine and accepts his apology anyway. He then tries to help by advising everyone to get some rest and comes up with a plan tomorrow and while he does get angry when Axel lashes out at him, he offers to just leave instead of fight or lash out since Axel clearly didn't want him around. If Jesse convinces him to stay, Lukas will calm down and feel remorse for what happened last night, if Jesse lets him leave, Lukas will return the next morning. He will begin apologizing to everyone including Axel and offering them apples, vowing to remain with them until the end.

Lukas locates the Order of the Stone's temple and tells the group he has to stay back there while Jesse and either Olivia or Axel go out to find Ellegaard the Redstone Engineer or Magnus the Rogue, telling the group that he knows Petra is still out there and looking for this place as even if there was a slight chance she was still alive, he had to be there to secure the temple, comfort and welcome her.

Lukas displays several leadership qualities throughout both Season One and Season Two, being the leader of The Ocelots and often taking the reins when Jesse is not able to. In The "The Last Place You Look" he and Jesse fought over the Amulet which activated it to find Soren the Architect's location.

If The player had saved Petra in "The Order of the Stone", and chose to save Axel and Reuben, Petra would say the following as the camera pans over to Lukas: "Everyone is expecting you to lead... well, maybe not everyone." This indicates that Lukas assumed the role as leader at the time, probably due to his time with The Ocelots, which is supported by when Jesse sees Lukas is already trying to find the direction of where Soren the Architect went using the Amulet. He also instructed everyone to follow him through The End in "The Last Place You Look" (Determinant).

He is incredibly loyal, such as when he found out that the other Ocelots might still be alive, he wanted to look for them even if Jesse convinces him to stay. If Jesse lets Lukas go look for them, Lukas will return to lead the Ocelots in saving Jesse, Olivia, and Axel from the Wither Storm by using fireworks, or, either do it by himself if he stayed.

Even if Jesse mistreated and left Lukas on bad terms, Lukas still returns following the midseason finale in episode 5 because he wants to patch things up with them and apologize to them for everything, even though it wasn't his fault but Jesse's. He begins to warn Jesse about how Aiden and the Ocelots betrayed him and Aiden usurped him as leader of the renamed Ocelots now called the Blaze Rods. However, he still feels sympathy for Gill and Maya as he tells Jesse how Aiden is bossing them around and is implied to feel some sympathy for Aiden given how he tells Jesse how Aiden has gotten worse because of his insecurity and jealousy that the Order of the Stone had saved the world.

He was the first and only consistent person to say that the group should not steal the Eversource as Sky City needed it to survive and it would lead to genocide if they stole the Eversource. He is the only person who remains this way regardless of the scenario as even Jesse can choose to steal the egg, proving Lukas' unique incorruptibility. He fights off Aiden and tells Jesse to save the Founder from falling off a cliff despite the fact that the Founder locked him up and was a tyrant. Lukas feels the most sympathy for the Founder asking if she was alright, and if Jesse gets harsh with her, Lukas will tell them to take it easy and remain calm.

In one route end, he captures Aiden in the end and although he initially says Sky City should dig a hole to put them in and surround it with lava, he quickly realizes this was wrong and apologizes and admits it was wrong of him to say that. His initial reaction is pretty understandable considering that Aiden threw him off a cliff to kill him and nearly succeeded in committing genocide against Sky City.

in A Portal to Mystery, He dueled Cassie Rose and although he was framed by her, he reluctantly agreed to be imprisoned and confined until Jesse could prove his or her innocence. He saved Jesse by using a water bucket to put out Cassie's flames. Cassie had lit a fire on Netherrack which lasts forever as she points out, meaning, Jesse would have been stuck and died if Lukas didn't have that water bucket.

Starting from "Access Denied", he begins writing about The New Order of the Stone's adventures, making a career out of it. If Jesse chooses to save Lukas first instead of Petra from PAMA then Lukas will build a water bucket along with Ivor to help Jesse destroy PAMA once and for all to free Petra and the townspeople from PAMA's brainwashing. If Jesse chooses to save Petra first then the roles are reversed with Lukas still being brainwashed and fighting it off long enough to stop PAMA from killing them both and allow Jesse to get to the Redstone Heart to deactivate PAMA once and for all. However, one key difference between Lukas and Petra, if Jesse saves them first, is that Lukas will feel guilty that Jesse saved him over Petra and will ask Jesse why he did it, telling Jesse that Petra was more useful and a closer friend to him. Even if Jesse responds poorly by saying he wasn't thinking, Lukas holds no grudges and pretty much agrees with Jesse, showing his selfless nature.

In A Journey's End?, He informs the rest of the group about what the game Spleef is when Harper drops them down into a match and saves Jesse from being eliminated. Without his info[2], Jesse and the group could not have made it out from being eliminated and enslaved since they didn't know the rules and no one was willing to help them.

in the second season, He complied with all of the Order of the Stone's adventures, narrating it at the beginning of Season 2 to the group to ask for their advice before planning on sharing it with the town. He was the last person to leave Jesse to work on his or her other duties, thanking Jesse, Olivia, and Axel again for their feedback on his journal and vowing to let them know when he was done with the revisions.

If Jesse goes with Lukas and Radar instead of Petra's group, Lukas later tells Jesse how Radar reminded him of them when they first started out and praised Radar for being braver than he was when he first started out. He also advises Radar not to let Vos, (who was actually Romeo in disguise), get to him when Vos insulted them, telling him that Vos deserves more credit than Radar was giving him and that sometimes you just had to live with difficult people like Vos. Despite rightly calling out Stella earlier for betraying the group to get the clock for herself and join Romeo, once Stella ended up ironically being betrayed by Romeo and was trapped in gushing water to go up to the top of his palace, Lukas was the first to argue that the group should help Stella regardless of what she did because no one deserves that.

When Reuben dies, Lukas is incredibly consoling to Jesse, acknowledging how much Reuben meant to them and comforts Jesse when Reuben's memorial is destroyed by Romeo. He also shows a great compassion for animals, such as petting Reuben and mourning him alongside Jesse after his demise and owning a pet Ocelot named Dewey, who he had fed until earning its trust.

In the epilogue of the penultimate episode, he enthusiastically greets Jesse when he seemingly returns back to Beacontown and asks where the others are before Jesse turns to him with red and yellow glowing eyes, though it was really Romeo who disguised himself into Jesse. In the finale, it is revealed that after Jesse took over Beacontown and turned it into a dictatorship and much of its people, Lukas single-handedly freed all the townspeople he had imprisoned and lead the rebellion against Jesse, forming the rebel group, The New Ocelots, to inspire the people of Beacontown of old times, give them hope, and join him to defeat Romeo once and for all.

Although he initially confronts the real Jesse with the New Ocelots to end his reign of terror, once Jesse explains that Romeo stole his identity and was the one who took over Beacontown, Lukas believes Jesse and pledges his and the New Ocelots' loyalty to support Jesse's plan to strip Romeo of his powers by going into the Terminal Space.

Regardless of if Romeo lives to see out his redemption or if he sacrifices himself to allow Jesse, Jack, Petra, and Radar to escape Terminal Space, once they come back and tell Lukas what happened, Lukas feels sympathy for Romeo and doesn't hold any grudges against him. If Jesse just ends up leaving Romeo trapped in the Terminal Space forever, Lukas is the only one who protests, saying it was too a little too harsh despite everything Romeo did. If Jesse chooses to leave Beacontown with Petra, Lukas is supportive of their choice and urges a saddened Radar to do the same.

Relationships[]

Jesse[]

"You're a good friend, Jesse. That means a lot."
—Lukas to Jesse in the Order Hall. (Determinant)  src

At first, Jesse's Gang holds a bitter rivalry with The Ocelots, who are led by Lukas, but the two began to get along with each other as the game progresses. Jesse can choose to treat Lukas well, and in this case, Lukas sees them as a close friend. Alternatively, if Jesse treats Lukas with bad manners, Lukas will hold a grudge against them and not follow them along for the majority of Episode 4. However, he will apologize to them in Episode 5. In Episode 8, if Jesse successfully gets Lukas' journal back, Lukas will ask Jesse to choose the ending. In Season 2, Lukas is shown to really care about Jesse, doing his best to watch their back.

The Ocelots[]

Before he left the group, Lukas was the leader of The Ocelots. He was well respected by the other group members. In Episode 4, when he found that The Other Ocelots might have survived and could be in danger, he was shown very worried and willing to find them. However, once Aiden, Maya, and Gill formed the Blaze Rods and kicked him off the team, Lukas held a grudge against them ever since.

Petra[]

"Whoa -- Everyone knows, you don't mess with Petra. Not if you know what's good for you."
—Lukas after knowing that Petra is scammed. src

Petra and Lukas have been friends since some time, but unknown how. Later, Lukas feels guilty for Petra/Gabriel's Wither Sickness because he froze when you had to choose to save Gabriel or Petra in Episode 1. After defeating the Wither Storm, they become really close friends, even though Petra sometimes talks to him in a harsh way. Overall, their relationship is still intact, even if there's a little bit of conflict between them.

Axel[]

"Jesse, your friend is way out of line!"
—Lukas to Jesse about Axel. src

In episode one, Axel holds a grudge against Lukas, since he is a former member of the Ocelots. They later fight in the treehouse/hut that the group built on the way to the Order's temple after Axel insults his jacket, calling it stupid, which Lukas does not take kindly. He gets furious at Axel and claims he is "way out of line." Based on the choice, Lukas will either stay, or leave the base and return to Jesse's Gang in the morning after the fight. As the story progresses, Axel and Lukas's relationship becomes more stable, and Axel starts to accept Lukas as part of the group. If Jesse chooses to save the Amulet in Soren's grinder, Lukas will rush in and save Axel and Reuben, this in resulting Axel saying "Lukas, I know we've had our differences, but you're okay in my book".

Reuben[]

"Jesse, I am... I am so sorry."
—Lukas to Jesse about Reuben's death. (Determinant) src

Reuben and Lukas don't interact much during the game. In Episode 3, if Jesse chooses to save the Amulet, Lukas will try to save Axel and Reuben and will pet Reuben later on. When Reuben dies, Lukas is very sad and feels sorry for Jesse's loss.

Olivia[]

"He's smart. I like having him around."
—Olivia to Jesse about Lukas. (Determinant) src

Lukas and Olivia share similar personalities (being intelligent, has leadership skills, and pessimistic), even though they don't interact a lot. In the beginning, with the exception of Jesse, Olivia was the only one out of Jesse's Gang who was welcome to Lukas, even when Axel tried to kick him out, Olivia was still defensive towards him, and if Jesse agrees on letting Lukas go, Olivia begins to hold a grudge against Jesse for risking his safety. In the beginning of Episode 3, they are shown arguing about how Ivor uses his door. Olivia appreciates his intelligence and Lukas cares for her well-being when she and Axel aren't with the rest of the team in Episodes 5-8.

Appearances[]

Season 1[]

Season 2[]

Killed Victims[]

Death (Respawn)[]

Killed By[]

Lukas "dies" during Extreme Spleef. When Jesse chooses to save either Ivor or Petra, Lukas saves the one not chosen. However, Nell appears and digs the snow out from under Lukas and Ivor/Petra with a shovel. They fall into the piston trap and are crushed by the pistons. However, they respawn a short while afterwards in one of the respawn zones.

Trivia[]

  • He is voiced by Scott Porter, who voiced Luke in The Walking Dead: Season 2. Coincidentally, Luke is a shortened version of Lukas.
    • In episode seven, during the intro, Lukas and the gang jump out of an ice portal and Lukas says "Brrrr... ice lakes". In The Walking Dead: Season 2, Luke drowns when he walks over an icy lake and the ice cracks. This is probably a reference.
    • Luke is also an alias. However, it is confirmed by Eric Stirpe that Lukas was named before Scott Porter was casted, meaning that it was just a coincidence. [3]
  • In episode four, if Lukas is convinced to stay with the group in the cave and go to Olivia in Ivor's cottage, saying that glad Lukas stayed, Jesse states that Lukas has excellent hair, and Olivia agrees with them.
  • In episode three, if Jesse chooses to save their friends in the grinder, Lukas will slip over himself in the loot room; otherwise, he will get knocked over by Petra/Gabriel.
  • He is part of the gag in episode three, in which Axel constantly falls on him. This happens a total of 4 times during the episode. In addition, Jesse also falls on him one time.
  • In the 2015 Minecon teaser trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode, Lukas looks completely different. He has a hat, a sleeveless jacket, and shorter pants, before being changed in the full release.
  • If Jesse is nice to Slab in episode eight, Slab will give Lukas his Journal back.
    • However, no matter whatever the choice, he will still be shown having it in Hero in Residence.
      • Possibly he found a new book and wrote in all the adventures.
  • Even if Lukas doesn't get armor in "A Block and a Hard Place", he still gets armor in "Order Up!".
  • If Jesse lets Lukas leave the shelter, leads their friends through the End, tells him that the Wither Sickness is none of his business, and leaves him on bad terms, they will all result in him being angry at the end.
  • In "Hero in Residence", Lukas has an Ocelot. This is likely a reference to the gang he formerly led.
    • It has been confirmed by Eric Stirpe that Lukas did not tame the ocelot because "it would be presumptuous". Eric also likes to think that their name is Dewey (very likely a reference to the Dewey Decimal System). [4]
  • Although being in "Giant Consequences", Lukas' voice actor, Scott Porter, could not be in "Jailhouse Block", as of him becoming a father and not having enough time to record his dialogue.
    • This is why Radar, instead of Lukas, who is the usual narrator for Season 2, narrates the "Previously on Minecraft: Story Mode" recaps of "Jailhouse Block" and "Below the Bedrock."
      • Eric Stirpe said that it would have been "horribly impractical to pay to bring his (Lukas') actor in for a single line", then he said that they "dug up an old one", referring to the reuse of certain dialogue lines for Lukas in Season 2. [5]
  • Eric Stirpe claims that the reason Lukas' name is spelled with a K instead of a C is because of the fact that Minecraft was made by a Swedish company and they decided to use Swedish spelling. [6]
  • Lukas is the only original member of The Ocelots that appears in Season 2.
  • Lukas' deformed potrait in "A Portal to Mystery" was a reference to Tangled.[7]
  • On the Minecraft Story Mode Skin Pack, Lukas does not have an armored variant.
